me milla, you milla

I love, love Carly’s hearts print in red. And blue too. And the elephants. And the quality of fabric is lovely too, textured and natural. More here.

I feel tired. But the up side is there is some strength in the sun, we have a new vegie patch and a dear henhouse ready to welcome the boarders back from my mum and dad’s. The ladies have been paying their way by laying well up there, so hopefully the move won’t put them off. The henhouse is made by my dad mostly from packing pallets from my brother’s warehouse. Rats not welcome.

Thanks, Fiona, what a prawn cracker cutie you have. If anyone would like a hat, please email me: gina at good gracie dot com. I have a few in stock that I haven’t managed to photograph yet. My miniature model has had a cold and four teeth coming through, so she’s not exactly looking or feeling her best. Certainly not worth her $20,000 a day fee.

winter? crazy talk?

I’ve been working on some winter versions of the good gracie staples. Asha was a good sport to model for me in 30 degree heat. Although there was ice-cream incentive. See more here.

I’ve spent five hours this weekend watching Asha’s ballet concert rehearsals. Her teacher believes ballet is a performance art, even for kids, and takes the end of year concert seriously. Which is great. But Asha is one of eleven jellyfish in the babies class, plus three boy-stingrays, and watching them all wander about on stage is both comical and nerve-wracking. Another weekend of rehearsals, three performances and then we’re finished. Phew. Hopefully not too many overtired tantrums stand between me and Christmas.

There are new vintage fabric twirly skirts up in my shop. In Australian dollars.

Some summery skirts made from recycled fabric in the shop now. There’s a bit of everything in these. Even second-hand binding. There’s something about op shop binding that I love. The great colours, the aged stiffness and especially the amazing price - 20 cents usually. And there’re always supplies, no matter where you go. I try not to buy all of it. Leaving some for the next person seems the polite thing to do.

(If you’d like to use our poor old Aussie dollars to buy a skirt, just email or convo me.)

Two vintage fabric pinafores and three hats  for my shop. I’m hoping to do a market stall soon too. Just need to decide when and where.

Some new twirly skirts, super sweet boys’ overalls and pinafores up in my shop. The twirly skirts were made from a mix pack of vintage fabric from hyena in petticoats that arrived last week.

But this one was too cute and the big girl happily snapped it up.

comp9.jpgInspired by the Snugglepot and Cuddlepie gumnut babies, reversible cute hats for newborns. In my shop now. And some new toddler hats, modelled reluctantly by the big girl.
